First Post 🎉#

I’ve been playing around with the idea of having a blog again for a while now. My old blog was done using Hugo, but I wanted a bit more freedom to experiment with interactive examples (I might not ever actually use them, but I would like to be able to).

So, after a bit of research, I’ve settled on Astro together with Svelte. I’ve found this very nice theme Fuwari that I will be using as a base for my blog. I’ll probably end up customizing it later on (I really like a lot of the features Gwern built for their blog and might end up re-implementing some of them [local archiving, pop-up previews and backlinks I’m looking specifically at you]).

I’m not sure how often I’ll be posting, but I’ll try to keep it somewhat regular. (Even though that has not worked out for my old blog at all. 😅)

Future Plans#

You might be wondering what you can expect from this blog in the future. I’m a Software Engineer by trade, so probably some technical stuff here and there. I’m also using NixOS so I might end up documenting some of the pitfalls I’ve stumbled over (like the time I didn’t have an internet connection after upgrading anymore, rollbacking didn’t help either; turned out that somehow Mullvad’s kill switch activated itself and blocked all my traffic).

I’m also a big book nerd, mostly Fantasy and Science Fiction with a notable mention for Progression Fantasy and LitRPGs. So, I’d like to also write up some book reviews as well. I really like the way Samuel built their review page, so I might be taking some inspiration from there as well.
